Career Guidance is making the students aware of the opportunities and the courses available. The students as well as parents are helped by this programme.

Career Counselling is the process in which a Career Counsellor or some qualified professional helps students reach about and select a course or programme of studies or occupation on the basis of their aptitude, interest and capability.

Objective:

Career Guidance and Counselling are the major needs of the day. Establishing high quality guidance and counselling programme is important in any educational institution. This programme provides improved courses selection for students leading to the benefits for learners, who are more pleased with their selection. Good Career Guidance can help decrease the gap between education and under employment on the one hand, and productive livelihood on the other. Guidance and Counselling programme are often insufficiently promoted in educational institutions, whereas it should be given utmost importance.

Realising its social and moral responsibility Baba Farid Group of Institutions has adopted programme of Career Guidance and Counselling on priority. It has been a part of it right from 2005, besides other educational activities for this purpose a permanent department has been established. The whole programme is bifurcated into two parts Guidance session runs from Oct. to Feb. while counselling session starts in March and lasts up to July .

How are we different:

Most of the educational institutions ignore guidance programme and do not give it due importance, but Baba Farid Group of Institutions is the initiator of this programme and on its lines the govt. and other Private institutions have also adopted this programme.

Activities:

Guidance session of the programme has been running since Nov 2009 Daily students from far and near schools came to the campus to attend this session, during which they are given a power presentation regarding various career options and study programmes available after 10th, 12th, and Graduation. Students are also made aware of many competitive exams. Along with this, they are also counselled after administering aptitude and personality tests.

Counselling Sessions:

Career Teachers Conference was organized by District Education Department in Collborations with the Department of Career Guidance & Counselling, BFGI on February 17, 2012. Mr. Khushveer Singh, DEO, Secondary Bathinda was a Cheif Guest.

Career Master’s Seminar held at BFPSS in collaboration with Distt. Education Office on 26 August, 2011. About 100 Career Master’s reported for the seminar. Distt. Education officer S. H.S. Sandhu was the Chief Guest.

Mass Career Guidance Camp was Organized on 1st Dec., 2010 in Collaboration with Distt. Eemployment & Training Deptt. and Distt. Education Officer.

In March 2009 Ms. Usha Albuquerque and Dr. Major Gulshan Sharma addressed about 6000 students in one day career camp.

Again in 2007 and 2008 same level campus were organized. Dr. D.S. Parmar, Dr Rajnish Arora (V.C. P.T.U) and other Career Counsellors of national and international repute addressed the students.

A ten day guidance camp was arranged in 2006 in which career counselors of national and international repute as Ms. Usha Albuquerque, G.S. Bajwa, Dr. Kulwinder Singh and some Air force Officers, interacted with the students.
