Rules & Regulations

  • The dates of BFGI Inter-School Sports Meet 2018 are 19th and 20th November, 2018.
  • No registration fee for Sports events.
  • The team needs to inform about their accommodation prior to their visit.
  • The teams are expected to show true sportsmanship throughout the tournament and any act of misconduct may lead to cancellation of the respective team and/or the whole contingent.
  • The referee’s or Umpire’s decisions will be deemed as final.
  • There may be slight adjustments in the schedule.
  • The decision of organizing committee in case of any dispute shall be deemed final.
  • Each player needs to bring a valid Institute’s identity card.
  • Each players Needs to proper sports kit.
  • International FIBA rules will be followed.
  • Matches would be played on Knockout basis.
  • Team composition would be 5+5.
  • MEN: There will be 4 quarters of 8 minutes each.
  • WOMEN: 4 Quarters of 6 minutes each.
  • 4 time outs of 20 seconds duration each allowed in total for each team.
  • Referee decision would be final.

  • Minimum 11 and maximum 16 members required per team.
  • All rounds will be knock out rounds.

  • Matches will be played in daylight with a red leather season ball.
  • Matches will be 12 over per side for initial stages, and 15 over each side for Semi Finals and Finals.
  • Time of 1 hour per inning will be allowed for 12 over match with 10 minutes break & 1 hour 15 minutes per inning for 15 over match with 10 minutes break between the innings.
  • Fielding restrictions: 3 over per side for 12 over match & 4 over per side for 15 over match.
  • The squad of playing eleven must be named before the toss for every game.
  • Rest of the rules will be as per T20 ICC Cricket rules with neutral umpires.
  • The decision of the umpires will be final.
  • One bowler can bowl a maximum of : • 2 over (in a 10-per-side game) • 2 bowlers can bowl 3 over and rest can bowl 2 over (in a 12-per-side game) • 3 over (in a 15 -per- side game) Audience Protocol 1. Spectators must remain outside the field of play during the course of the match. 2. Spectators must not throw any object on the umpire or officials. If this happens umpire can abandon the match and the offending team has to forfeit the match.

  • A minimum team of 6 should be present.
  • A maximum of 3 substitutes.
  • Rotation preferable though depends on teams (international rotation rules apply).
  • Standard size ground and net height.
  • Substitutions as per international rules.
  • All the matches will be 3-set of 25 points each.
  • Final will be 5-set match with 25 points each.
  • Rally scoring to be used in all matches.

  • Minimum 4 players per team for MEN and 3 for WOMEN.
  • The event will be played following international TT rules.
  • Knockout format with each match having 5 ties (4 singles & 1 doubles) for men and 3 ties (2 singles & 1 doubles) for women.
  • Order of matches will be singles, singles, doubles, singles, singles for men and singles, doubles, singles for women.
  • The captain shall nominate players in position A, B, C or X, Y, Z.
  • Men: Each individual match shall be the “best of 5” games of 11 points each (including semis and finals). A player can play a maximum of 2 matches (2 singles or 1 singles & 1 doubles)
  • Women: It will be a “best of 3” format (2 singles & 1 doubles) of 11 points each (including semis and finals) & a player can play a maximum of 2 matches (1 singles & 1 doubles).

  • The event will be played following international chess rules.
  • Each team will consist of 5 players and 1 substitute player.
  • Each team will have to submit the seeding of all its players before the start of the tournament which will be followed throughout the tournament.
  • Substitute player will be seeded 6th (and can only enter at the 5th board).
  • Each match will be of maximum 40-minute duration with each player getting 20 minutes on the clock.
  • Each team will give its board order (i.e. which player will play at what board number) at the start of the tournament. This Board order will remain fixed during the whole tournament.
  • The final ranking would be based on the team points. Total game points would be used to as the first tie- breaker. Head-to-head record will be used as the second tie-breaker. In case, the teams are still tied after this, they will be played a tie-breaker blitz round with 10 mins on the clock. If teams are still tied an Armageddon match between the top seeded players of both teams will be played to determine the winner.
  • Minor rules related to game play and code of conduct will be conveyed to participating teams at the event venue.
